Much like bad weather swept through the northwest the previous evening, the home side overwhelmed United away at the Etihad. It was a statement three goal win for Andrée Jeglertz’s side owing to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a display that firmly established their championship potential as they reinforced their position at the top of the table.

Back-to-Back Setbacks for United

This scoreline marked back-to-back WSL losses for the United manager's side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, placing them seven points off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions in serious doubt.

The Red Devils' ability to juggle domestic and continental soccer with a thin squad has been a hotly discussed subject since they secured entry to the Champions League.
